Spring is in the air is love? What can you do to make your romance come alive without spending a fortune? How about going for a walk and enjoying all that nature has to offer. I am a huge fan of scavenger hunts. How about making up a scavenger hunt and going for a nature walk. The first person to find all the items wins a back rub or foot rub when you are done your walk.
I am not sure about your husband but my husband will indulge me in anything that could result in a foot rub. There are some wonderful opportunities to embark on a journey. You never know what you will find. You could find more than a purple flower or a squirrel you could find the person that you originally fell in love with. Happy hunting!

Sometimes the best dates can be had in the comfort of your own home. Last Friday night we were thrilled when some friends offered to watch our kids for us. But only for 2 hours. Hey I'll take it! So how did we make the most of our 2 hours?
We made dinner together. Normally I do not enjoy cooking and would insist that a "date" include someone else cooking for me. But money is tight right now. I had items on hand for a pasta dish and salad. So I got my husband in the kitchen with me and we made dinner together. The great part was that it was time for me and him to spend together. We made it fun! This meal was easy enough that he could help with it. We did not turn on the tv or even the radio so that there were no distractions. This meal only took about 20 minutes to make so we still had a lot of time left after cooking.
After dinner was ready we sat down to a quiet meal! Add a couple candles to make it romantic. I poured a glass of wine. We had over an hour to sit and just talk. Talking without distraction is very rare for us. So it was fabulous!
This is a great idea if you are on a tight schedule and budget. Try it!

Dating on a Dime 3/18!
How long has it been since you and your “other half” were on a date? If you are like me you are sitting there trying to remember. Has it been that long? From Madame Deals: I often feel like if we could only steal fifteen minutes away without any interruptions each day then we are doing great. We have had many meals together over the years. It was so easy before kids. We used to have lunch together often. The problem now is life, work, kids, and time constraints gets in the way. I figured there has to be a way to recover lunch. I was in town groceries shopping so I called my husband and invited him to lunch at a local restaurant. The bill was under $20 and we had a great date. We went to a place with a salad bar buffet to save time. It was easy to get him to come I told him the lunch was on me. We have also in the past had sandwiches in the car.If you aren't able to leave the house have lunch over the phone. We have even had meals together via skype when my husband was out of the country. It really doesn't matter where you are it is who you are with.
From Living on Love and Cents: I am the same way! Now that I am a SAHM I try to find ways to make lunch dates with my husband. If you are like me and your husband works strange hours you can try having a picnic lunch. How? Put the kids down for a nap (this may mean an early or late lunch for you) then make some sandwiches. Head to the backyard with a blanket and lunch. Take a monitor with you so you can hear the kids. Or if you prefer do the picnic in the living room. Either way sit on a blanket and enjoy a simple sandwich lunch with your sweetie. Enjoy your quality time alone. However short it may be.

While trying to cut back and still getting out and adding sparks to your relationship you have to think outside the box. Here is an idea for you:
Need some relaxing time? Try a massage school. I know it sounds strange. But my husband and I have done this several times and it is fabulous!
Look in the phone book or on the internet for "massage schools" in your area. Call them and ask if they offer massage sessions/ therapy. Usually the senior students offer massages on certain days. You have to set up an appointment.
Students of massage at the Houston school provide affordable massage therapy for the public at only $30.00 for a full-hour massage session. That is less than HALF the price of the spas in our area. And we have always had great expereinces!
In fact you can make it a great date by asking if you can be in the same room. Most of the schools have double and single rooms. So you and your sweetie can relax and get your massages in the same room. Give it a try!

While trying to cut back and still getting out and adding sparks to your relationship you have to think outside the box. Here is an idea for you:
Make it a “Date Day” instead of night. When you do this you can eat off of your favorite restaurant’s lunch menu instead of dinner menu. This will save you several dollars. Many restaurants have lunch menus on the weekend. I suggest you call around first to confirm which offer a weekend lunch menu.
To help with that lunch even more check out my post on how to save money on going out to eat.
While on your "Date Day" you can see a matinee. Save even more if you see the movies before noon! You can save a lot by going to an early movie. And as an added bonus most theaters are not as crowed during the day.
We have done this several times. I will also mention that it is easier to find someone to watch the kids on a Saturday morning then it is Saturday night. So you can drop them off at grandmas's or a friend's house for a few hours. Then go enjoy each other on your "date day" and spend alot less than you would on a "date night."

Dating on a Dime!

I am excited about this new weekly feature. Madame Deals and Living on Love and Cents have paired up to bring you Dating on a Dime. We all know how important it is to keep that fire alive in the relationship and who says that you have to have money to have romance?
This week Amee from Madame Deals is sharing a fabulous idea with us.
"Mat and I have been married for almost 11 years. We have three children and multiple jobs and we found that we had little time for one another. When you have children a night out is expensive because of the cost of a babysitter. I have exchanged services with friends but I usually end up providing more babysitting than what I receive. I had an idea to find something we both love that has childcare. I hate working out but I love Yoga and my husband loves to work out but he never tried yoga. I convinced him that he should come to yoga class. He did so and he was surprised by the benefits of the class.Do you have a frugal dating idea? Please share! I would love to hear!
It is a great way for us to be together and reduce our stress. The best part is the kids are safe and happy in the daycare of the gym.
There are lots of churches and organizations that offer classes and childcare for a small fee. I suggest you find one and find each other again."
