Wow another coupon policy change .... what do you think is causing all these changes (first it was Rite Aid now Publix)-

Publix accepts manufacturers' coupons (limit one per item), Publix coupons (originals only—no copies), valid Internet coupons, and coupons from nearby competitors identified by each Publix store. (Competitor names are posted at each Publix store) We will accept coupons from competing pharmacies for prescriptions only. We will NOT accept percent-off-items or percent-off-total-order coupons. We will only accept coupons for identical merchandise we sell. Acceptance is subject to any restrictions on the coupon, and we reserve the right to limit quantities. Manager approval is needed for individual coupons above $5.00. For a buy-one-get-one free (BOGO) offer, each item is considered a separate sale. We will accept a manufacturer's coupon and either a Publix or a competitor coupon on the same item. Dollars-off-total-order coupons will be limited to one Publix and one competitor coupon per order. The order total must be equal to or greater than the total purchase requirements indicated on the coupon(s) presented.Publix also still doubles coupons that are at $0.50 or less. ( I wonder for how long)
This is probably because of all you smart shoppers who have learned to play the coupon game. I wish I could do it as good as some of these people I see on TV.
ReplyDeleteI'll blame the blogs/message boards that encourage people to bend the rules. Things like having a coupon that says BOGO and then having another coupon to attach to the one you are buying. Even if folks don't want to admit it, we all know that was not the intention when the coupon was offered. That is the equivalent of trying to get the companies to accept 2 mfg Qs for the same item. Another problem I ran into when I was in retail was when we would have a dual pack of an item...deodorant and toothpaste quickly come to mind...and people would want to use a BOGO on that knowing full well that the dual pack was a single unit. Then of course we have the show "Extreme Couponers" showing people acting plain crazy. In my area Family Dollar and Harps won't even take a coupon for a flat out free item. They only accept BOGOs.

I have used coupons for years; however, I've never gotten items for free or as low as those on "Extreme Couponing" or those that show how much they can get for $5.00 on the blogs. Where I live, we don't have much of a choice, so Wal-Mart is usually cheaper. People double-couponing and/or committing fraud are ruining it for those of us that really need the coupons to help out with our shopping.
