Enfamil Lipil Lawsuit

A friend of mine sent me this email a little while ago. If you fall into this category you might want to fill out the form below.

If you bought Enfamil LIPIL^® Infant Formula you could get
free infant formula or cash from a Settlement.

Records show that you may have bought infant formula in the past. A Settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit about whether Mead Johnson & Company, LLC ("Mead Johnson") falsely represented that Enfamil LIPIL^® is the only infant formula that contains DHA and ARA. DHA and ARA are healthy fatty acids. Mead Johnson will pay between $8 million and $12 million in infant formula and cash. No one is claiming that Enfamil LIPIL^® is unsafe or challenging the nutrition it provides. Go to http://www.formulasettlement.com/ for more information and to file a claim online.

Who's Included? You are included if you bought Enfamil LIPIL^® infant formula in the United States between October 13, 2005 and March 31, 2010. You are not included if you received Enfamil LIPIL^® infant formula through the U.S.D.A.'s Women, Infants and Children program ("WIC") or purchased it for resale.

What Can You Get? Those included in the Settlement will be eligible to receive a payment up to $12 or two free cans of formula. The amount of benefits you may receive will be based on the length of time you bought the formula.

How to Get Benefits? You must submit a Claim Form to get benefits. The Claim Form is available at http://www.formulasettlement.com/ or by calling 1-866-254-8048. You can submit a Claim Form online or by mail. The deadline to submit a Claim Form is November 25, 2011. Only one claim per household.

Your Other Rights. If you do nothing, your rights will be affected. If you do not want to be legally bound by the Settlement, you must exclude yourself from the Settlement. The deadline to exclude yourself is August 22, 2011. If you do not exclude yourself you will not be able to sue Mead Johnson for any claim relating to the lawsuit. If you stay in the Settlement, you may object to it by August 22, 2011. The Court will hold a hearing on September 26, 2011 to consider whether to approve the Settlement and a request for attorneys' fees up to $3.5 million. You can appear at the hearing, but you don't have to. You can hire your own attorney, at your own expense, to appear or speak for you at the hearing.

Girls' Jeans for Toddlers Recalled by Parigi Due to Choking Hazard

Name of Product: Girls' Jeans for Toddlers

Units: About 1,600 units
Importer: Parigi Group, Ltd., of New York, NY
Hazard: Decorative rhinestones and sequins on the jeans' pockets can pose a choking hazard to young children.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: This recall involves "Baby Phat" branded jeans for toddlers in sizes 2T to 4T. Style number BM02545 can be found on a label sewn in the rear waistband. The rear pockets have colored rhinestones and sequins attached and the right rear pocket has an appliqué of a cat below the sequins.
Sold at: Various specialty stores nationwide and online through Amazon.com from May 2010 through June 2010 for about $13.
Manufactured in: China.
Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the jeans away from children and return them to the retail store where they were purchased for a full refund, or contact the firm for instructions on how to return the product by mail for a full refund.

Matilda Jane Recalls Girl's Chelsa Dress Due to Choking Hazard

Name of Product: Girl's Dress

Units: About 1,500

Importer: Matilda Jane LLC of Fort Wayne, Ind.

Hazard: The buttons can come off, posing a choking hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: Matilda Jane has received one report of an incident with no injuries.

Description: The Chelsa dress is a girl's sleeveless sundress in sizes 2, 4, and 6. The top is white with green polka dots; the bottom is printed with a green and yellow floral design and has a multi-colored floral border at the hem.

Sold at: In-home trunk shows and online from February 1 through February 25, 2011.

Manufactured in: China.

Remedy: Anyone possessing this dress should return it for repair or refund by contacting Matilda Jane Clothing.

Pogo Sticks

When I think of Pogo Sticks I always think of danger - but THESE pogo sticks add an extra punch - lol- nearly 170,000 pogo sticks have been recalled due to risk of serious injury.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued the recall of California-based pogo stick maker Bravo Sports products after more than 120 injuries from the toy were reported.

Injuries ranged from a chipped tooth, to facial lacerations, to an inner thigh injury.

The Problem with the Pogo Sticks - The aluminum rivets can break and and release the spring, in which event the user could be scraped, or fall down.

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled products and return them to any Sports Authority location, where they will receive full refund.

The new Honda Civic fuel pump recall affects 18,056 units.

The culprit in the new recall is the "roll-over valve" (ROV), which is an internal component of the vehicle's fuel pump module. In the event of a rollover accident, this valve prevents gasoline from running out of the top of the tank through the openings intended for the evaporative system and fuel pump itself. Honda noticed during assembly that a portion of the ROV may have been damaged during shipping to the plant where the fuel pump module is built. This valves only purpose is to prevent fuel from running out when the car rolls so keeping the car on all 4 wheels should prevent any further issues from occurring but since there is a clear danger in the event of an accident, Honda is recalling these models back to the dealerships.

Based on how the possible defect was discovered, it would leave one to believe that the recent batch of Honda Civics built are affected by this problem so if you bought a Civic in the last few weeks, you may want to check with your local dealership to see if your 2011 Civic is included in the fuel pump recall.

The recall is expected to officially begin in April, at which point the owners of the 18,056 Honda Civics will be asked to return to the dealership where a certified Honda technician will remove, inspect and, if necessary, replace the fuel pump module if the roll-over valve shows any sign of damage.

The Food Standards Australian New Zealand (FSANZ) announced the national recall of the product after the tests showing that some batches contained nuts that were not listed on the box. The nuts in the product may not be the candlenuts but the poisonous seed of the Yellow Oleander. The costumers should be cautious on buying products they hardly knew. Consumers are advised to stop consuming the product right away and those with health concerns should report to the doctor right away. For some who still have the product, they can return it to purchase immediate full cash refund.

The product has a package name called "The Natural Secret of South America." It is listed as made in Brazil containing 12 seeds in each box. Yellow Oleander is plant species in Australia. The Queensland Poisonous Information Center warned the public about toxic effect of every part of the plant particularly the fruit and the seed when eaten. The plant has been reported to be responsible of the death of several children.

Symptoms include burning sensation in the mouth, diarrhea, vomiting, dizziness and irregular heartbeat. Seek medical help right away once you have eaten any part of the plan. The faster you get medical help, the higher chance of recovery.

Lean Cuisine Recall

My friend over at Budget Savvy Diva is the go to place for recalls. She sent me this post about this popular Lean Cuisine Recall on Spaghetti with Meatballs. Please check your freezer to see if you have this. Read below for more information.

Important recall today. Looks like Lean Cuisine put something a little extra in their meatballs - red plastic pieces !!!!! The only good news is that they are calorie free

The packages have a product code of 13800-10390 and a product code 0298595519 P.
The company also said that due to the product's popularity, it believed little was left at retail (scary). It asked anyone who had the product to call (866) 606-8264.

Nestle said it was recalling Lean Cuisine Simple Favorites Spaghetti with Meatballs packages produced.

Graco Stroller Recall!

One of my readers, Lauren, emailed me about a current Graco Stroller recall. See below a clip from the Consumer Reports site regarding the type of strollers being recalled:

"The recall involves the Graco Quattro Tour and the MetroLite strollers and travel systems. The Quattro Tour strollers and travel systems were manufactured prior to November 2006. The MetroLite strollers and travel systems were manufacturerd prior to July 2007. Consumers who own a Graco Quatro or MetroLite stroller should check the recall notice to see if their model is affected. If so, the CPSC advises that consumers stop using the stroller immediately and contact the company for a free repair kit.
